Dear Family,
Thank you so much for the email! I love reading them on Monday mornings.
So
we taught Cole again this week in the Robinson home. I think this is
just as much for the Robinson family as it is for Cole. For the record,
though, if the missionaries are ever teaching somebody in our home,
don't ask deep doctrine questions! Haha. We were teaching the Plan of
Salvation and we really had to power through some tough questions they
asked us. Luckily, Cole didn't catch us and he loved the lesson and he
wants to get baptized on July 18th! We are so excited for him and the
Robinsons. Cole's dad will be meeting with different missionaries in a
different ward.
You
asked why this stake has been more successful in May than any other
month. I think it is because of two things. The first is that President
Randall is more involved. He is really focused on missionary work. That
helps a lot. The other thing is Elder Brase and I changed our approach.
We spent so much time trying to figure out what to do to make things
better that I think we wasted a of time. We just decided that we were
going to work harder in our area and lleave it in the Lord's hands to
bless us. It has worked great so far.
As
far as reading the Book of Mormon, I just did it by sections. So I just
go done reading the Isaiah chapters, then I moved on to the ministry of
Christ, no I am in Helaman, next I will read the destruction of the
Nephites and Jaredites and I will end with the war chapters in Alma.
That is just how I decided to read it this time around. You guys are
almost done... keep going!
That
is so cool that I was able to hook up with Coach Wade and his family! I
got an email Tuesday through Facebook that he wanted to visit me the
next day but I had no idea how to respond. Later that day I got a call
from Steve Ard who gave me Tony's phone number so I was able to call him
and set something up. It was crazy to see Justin and Alicia again. They
have grown a lot in a year. It was also fun to catch up with them to
see what was going on in the valley. Thanks so much for the package. I
have been munching on goodies for the past few days so thank you. I
needed some new socks and the shoelaces were perfect.
Thankfully
I get some updated on the Cavs out here. In fact, most of the people we
taught this week had the game on at one point or another haha! Satan is
working on me! I was actually a little homesick when the first
counselor in the mission presidency started talking to me about ho much
he loves Dellevedova and how much of a stud he has been in the finals.
Luckily I have been out for a while and I realize that the work I am
participating in is much more important!
Thanks
for the pictures! Those are huge fish! I bet that was a ton of fun. I
am glad that Jessica decided to serve a mission. She will do great in
Colorado. Thanks for the update on Porter Clayton. less than a third of
players that get drafted actually in the majors so I am rooting for him.
So
this week I am doing something kind of fun. For the apostles that have
recently died, I am watching their first and last general conference
address. The goal is to see if I can get a theme. So far I have only
watched Elders Perry and Wirthlin. they changed a lot in the course of
their ministry. I will let you know how that goes next week. Thanks
again for te email and I hope everybody has a great week. I love you!
Love,
Jaxon
