Elder Jaxon J. Reiley: 07/13/2015

Dear Family,

I remember Sister Opdahl saying something about sending you a note. She was a ward missionary so we worked pretty close with her. They are an awesome family.

So we finally met with Andrea this week! She has been so overwhelmed with everything she has to do, but we finally met with her before church. It went really well and she is back on track. K dropped us and picked us back up in the same day. He is in a battle with cigarettes and he gets frustrated when he doesn't see immediate improvement. He loves the church and the Book of Mormon and wants to be baptized, but he just has that one issue. We have been praying and fasting for him a lot, so he will come around eventually. We found a new investigator yesterday with a lot of promise. She just got married to a less-active member who really wants to meet with us. So there is a lot of promise Her name is P.P. We met with her yesterday and doesn't know anything about church or Jesus Christ or anything so we kind of have a long road, but we will get there.

Do you remember Shaylah? I taught her while I was in Portland. She is getting baptized on Saturday. I will have to show you some pictures. I am confirming her on Sunday so it will be cool to be back in the Cherry Park ward on Sunday.

It sounds like things are still chugging along at home. Summer is the best, even for missionaries. People are happier and usually have more time to meet with us. More people are out and about as well so it has been fun.

So Kipnis made the all-star team? That is awesome. So I heard that Yan Gomes died on the field? Is that true? Any details? Or was that months ago and I just heard about it now? That is some crazy news.

I think that is great to make more of an effort to keep the Sabbath Day holy. We got to hear Elder Ballard give a training on it a month or two ago. It is something that we have slacked off as a church with. Sometimes when I teach people I focus too much on church attendance as opposed to keeping the Sabbath day holy. It's like I just want people at church, but they have to know that it is part of keeping the Sabbath Day holy. Our spiritually will increase so much when we use the Sabbath Day at were supposed to. I am glad that the general authorities are making us aware of this.

Thank you so much for the great email! I love receiving them. As far as a package. I think contact stuff is all I need; I am doing well on everything else. I am learning so much in Gresham. Our area has a lot of rural area so it has been a blast trekking it up long driveways to try to talk to people. The Lord definitely blessed us a lot this week. I love you all and I hope you have a great week!
