Dear Family,
The
new area has been great so far. I am right next to the Blue Lake ward
again so it has been cool to see my old area again I have already met a
few people from that ward. So I am in the Crown Point ward and it is in
the Gresham stake. The ward is huge geographically. We have had a couple
of appointments waaaaaayyyyyy out there. It has been kind of
challenging getting doubled in (both of us are zone leaders) but we are
figuring it out and meeting a lot of new people. Elder Martin is
hilarious. I have laughed so hard these last few days. He actually
reminds me a lot of Elio. We have had a good time. The ward has been
incredible. We have felt so welcome and loved. Our ward mission leader
is on top of it. He has helped us out a lot. Most of our area is in a
city called Troutdale, which is pretty much right next to Gresham.
The
most progressing investigator we have is Andria. She is in her late
20's. She first came in contact with the church through her neighbor.
She has been coming to church for the last month or so. We actually did
some service with her. There were a bunch of us helping a lady move a
bunch of dirt and rocks. She is way into landscaping. Her sister
actually got baptized, but she's not into it anymore. Andria knows a lot
about the church and knows a lot of anti stuff, but she still wants to
investigate.
Here
are some logistical things. We live in an apartment with another
companionship, Elder Boardman and Elder Child. The zone is a lot
smaller. We have 8 companionships here compared to 15 in Vancouver. Half
of the 8 companionships are sisters. Elder Martin has been out about 19
months.
Thanks for the
pictures! Are there still brook trout in Fish Lake? I remember that the
population was dwindling. The eagle project looks great! A piece of
cake, huh Carson! I'm glad you got that done. Backward parking in
Victor, the talk of the town! Ha! That was funny. I am glad to hear
about the missionaries from our stake. Thanks for keeping me updated on
them. There are a lot of lessons to be learned out there, but it is
good. I am glad that you were in contact with Sister Bennett. She is a
sweet lady and she loves housing the missionaries...which is pretty
rare. Haha. I would love to hear some updates on the Cavs. I'm sure the
draft wasn't near as exciting as in years past for the Cavs.
I
finished the Book of Mormon this morning. President Taylor asked us to
read it by July 1st so I just got it done. I am so thankful for the Book
of Mormon. People have such strong opinions about it which is evidence
to me that it is from God. I know that the people living here in the
Americas knew about Jesus Christ many hundred years before He came. They
had the fullness of the gospel and I am so grateful for the grace of
God allowing us to read that record today.
Thanks for the email! I love you all and I hope everybody has a great week!
Love, Jaxon
