Dear Family,
I
will give an update on the investigators first. Jeff has been feeling
really guilty lately. I think he feels a lot of pressure to quit his
addictions. He ha been avoiding us this week so that is a bummer. We are
going to take him off date and take it really slowly. Mike was on
vacation this week, but we met with him last night. He said that he
prayed about being baptized and he felt "weak." We were kind of
confused, but he felt like that was his answer. It was pretty weird, but
hey whatever works. His less-active girlfriend tried to shut it down
and said that it could be a bad sign, but Mike was like, no no it was
definitely a good feeling. So we are going for April 11th to be
baptized! Reine was out of town, but she is coming back on Wednesday. I
will give you an update next week.
This
week has been full of meetings. We had district meetings, a mission
leadership council, interviews with President Taylor, a district leader
council, a zone comp. study, and a few others. Our studies pretty much
went down the drain, but I learned a lot. President Taylor is awesome.
We talked about the state of the mission right now. By July 1st, we will
be down to about 150 missionaries. When I came out it was around 220.
In May alone, there are 24 missionaries going home and only 3 coming
out! Along with that, 12 zone leaders and both assistants will be home.
He said that I am going to have to learn how to be a zone leader very
quickly. I might be training a new zone leader next transfer. He said
that I will be overwhelmed, but I will be able to handle it. We will see
what happens.
Today
is my 8 month mark! I am 1/3 of the way done! Time really flies when
you are looking back. The weather here has been ridiculous. People are
blown away about how nice it has been. It is usually pouring rain by
this time. It has hit 75 this week and has been sunny. It makes it feel
like summer which makes me think that I have been out longer than what I
have. I still have a while to go before I hit my year mark. :-)
I
went on exchanges with Elder Livingston on Saturday. I had some serious
flashbacks of serving with him in the Fern Prairie ward. It was weird.
We even put in the same CD we would always listen to in the car. It was a
fun experience.
I
went back to Portland this week. Noel got baptized. I will send a
picture. It was so cool to see and it was an awesome experience. I never
thought that he would get baptized this quickly. He was pretty
determined. He is still just living with a bunch of different co-workers
and trying to find a place to live. He has attended church every week
and he read most of the Book of Mormon. It was also cool to see my old
area. It will be weird if I ever go back to my old areas after my
mission. The ward is still doing great. Kate is getting baptized next
week and I might be giving a talk on the Holy Ghost.
It
sounds like things are going great at home. Baseball season is starting
up here as well. It makes me excited for it. I am actually really happy
that South Fremont won state. If they can do it, Teton should be able
to do it at some point! Who else made the baseball team? How are they
looking this year?
I
am continuing to learn and grow in the gospel. God really does give the
increase and this is HIs work. The more we depend and rely on Him, the
more He will help us. We can try and do all these things on our own, but
real satisfaction comes from relying on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the email! I love you all and I hope everybody has a great week!
Love, Jaxon
