Dear Family,
It
was so great to talk to everybody on Skype! The technology is so
awesome. A lot of members are jealous because they got to do a measly
phone call! Haha! I know that Heavenly Father helped it so there were no
technical difficulties. It was pretty rough hanging up. It was the
worst when I looked at the clock and it was almost tie to hang up. But I
am glad that everybody enjoyed it. I have heard that the phone calls
are more for the mothers than anybody else so I am glad that it worked
out. Now we have to wait until Mother's Day!
So
right after we hung up, we found this letter right outside of the
church. It was from this guy that Elders Kelly and Ewell taught awhile
ago. He has some mental issues, but he hates us now! The letter was to
the bishop telling him to kick us out of the church and how we are
trying to replace the Holy Ghost by trying to teach. Weird. It was a
great reminder that I truly am representing Jesus Christ.
This
week was one of the rougher weeks for teaching. a lot of people were
out of town or just not willing to meet with us. IT comes with the
season. This week will be much better. It will be our last full week
together so we are pretty excited to do some work. We found a lot of new
investigators, some of them with real promise, but we had to refer them
all! They were all either Spanish or YSA. It takes some real faith to
do it, but as long as they are being taught the truth, that is all that
matters.
Everybody
seems to be doing fine here. IT was sad to see Christmas come and go
just like it does every year. It will certainly be one that I will never
forget. We ate lunch at a Chinese buffet. It totally reminded me of A
Christmas Story. I also forgot to talk about Christmas Eve! We had an
awesome dinner and then we delivered cookies. It kind of reminded me of
delivering cinnamon rolls, but we would just knock on the door and run.
We did it pretty late into the night and it got me thinking... sometimes
when it gets to be 8:15 or 8:30 we think it is too late to knock on
doors. But we didn't see any problem with knocking on doors at 9:30 to
deliver cookies. What is more important, salvation or cookies? Haha. It
is just one of the many ways Satan tricks our minds.
Thank
you for all of the Christmas presents! I am enjoying all of the sugar
:-) I also really liked the study journal. I was thinking about getting
one actually and then it came. Just for the few days that I have had it
has helped my studies.
So
the title of that talk is called Why do we Serve by Dallin H. Oaks.
Thanks for paying the tithing out of my account, that will be easier
than sending cash and all that. I'm sad about Sister Dalling passing
away. There is no question where she is right now. How is Brother
Dalling doing? All the missionaries here can't believe how much snow
there is there. It is so weird to see all of that snow since there isn't
a drop here.
So
about New Year's resolutions... I am making some goals abut who I want
to be at the end of 2015. I am especially focusing on Christlike
attributes. Then I am going to take a picture of them and put it on my
lock screen on my iPad so I can see it every day. I still have some
specifics that I am going to work out, but I think it is a good idea.
Thank
you for the email. I love you and all that you do for me. Keep up the
great work and keep praying for missionary opportunities. I can't wait
to hear form you next week!
Love, Jaxon
